- Download Simple Balance 2.2 - Xmas EditionDecember 22 2008
-

Simple Balance 2.2 is now available for free downloading. Although it was previously working with the recently released WordPress 2.7, now, the theme has built-in support for threaded comments (you can reply to people’s comments with a maximum depth of 3 steps) which is a new functionality added by the latest WordPress release.
If you’re running a WordPress version prior to 2.7, fear not! The comments section has backwards compatibility.
Another cool feature has been added to the options panel and it refers to the 125×125 right sidebar banners. Now, you can also add Google AdSense code, individually, for each of your banners.
And that’s not all! Christmas is around the corner, and so’s the New Year.
New color scheme: Xmas Edition
Why not give your Simple Balance themed blog a cool new color scheme to match the Holiday spirit? A new color scheme - Xmas Edition - has been added, raising the total number of schemes to 10!
Here’s a quick preview:

Dear friends, first of all, I’d like to apologize for the slow rhythm of updates in the past two weeks. In the activity of a design agency, December is a pretty busy period, and pretty short too, as everyone goes on vacation after the middle of the month and project need to be finished before that moment.
The past weeks have been crazy for me and my partner at QBKL Media, trying and succeeding at ending this year in a good state with all of our projects and clients.
Due to this, Blogsessive has suffered, but rest assured, I’ve been here everyday, reading and answering emails and comments. From the next week, things should get back to normal, and, just to get in the holiday spirit, I’m going to release a ‘Christmas’ color scheme for Simple Balance.
Thank you for remaining loyal to this blog through better or worse periods of time!
You rock!

By popular demand, I decided to publish a short tutorial on how to add your own logo to the Simple Balance WordPress theme.
So, in order to achieve this we’ll walk through the following steps:
- The logo image guidelines and instructions;
- Files to update;
- Code explanation.
The logo requirements
In order to achieve the best implementation quality of your logo, you should consider saving you logo with a transparent background. A .gif file will work well, and if you’re using a software like Adobe Photoshop to edit your images, when saving the image (File > Save for Web & Devices…), setting the Matte to white would be good. This will ensure that the margins of your transparent background logo will look good on Simple Balance’s light background color.
As you can see on the live demo, I’ve used a .gif image for logo, and basically, this is what you are about to achieve with your own blog too.
Once you’ve saved your image, upload it to the “img” folder inside the Simple Balance theme folder (wp-content/themes/simplebalance/img). From
- Blog SEO Tips: XML Sitemaps and the Google Webmaster ToolsNovember 25 2008

Back in 2005, the folks at Google took on an “experiment” that later proved to be a very popular tool for webmasters and SEO people: the Google Sitemaps. Their exact words on the official Google blog were:
We’re undertaking an experiment called Google Sitemaps that will either fail miserably, or succeed beyond our wildest dreams, in making the web better for webmasters and users alike.
Ever since sitemaps where added, the Google Webmaster Tools became more and more used and useful, many new features being added over the time.
How do sitemaps help you?
Based on the main reasons that lead to this successful “experiment”, sitemaps are meant to improve the way your website is indexed and crawled by the GoogleBot.
Furthermore, through the Webmaster Tools interface and using sitemaps, you have access to vital information such as pages that could not be crawled, broken links, search queries that returned your website’s content, queries that drove traffic to your website and many more features worth discovering and using.
How do I build a XML sitemap?
As a blogger, you should not worry about that. Arne Brachhold developed a wonderful WordPress plu

In today’s edition, I have a new selection of news and interesting links to share from all around the blogosphere.
WordPress News
WordPress 2.7 is approaching rapidly. The 3rd Beta version is up for grabs and the Icon design competition ended with the folks at WP selecting two wonderful contest entries as their main icon sets for WordPress 2.7.
I’d suggest taking a quick look at Technosailor’s post, as Aaron shares 10 Things You Need To Know About WordPress 2.7.
Blog monetization
MediaWhiz (Text Link Ads) launched a new advertising product called InLinks. This product allows advertisers to buy “do follow” links in your blog’s content, a thing that doesn’t quite appeal to Google and so, I’d advise you to proceed carefully with this advertising method.
