clip_image002A south Texas grand jury has indicted Dick Cheney and Alberto Gonzalez (via Brownsville Herald). Will Bunch has the background on the federal immigration facility at the center of the indictment. Gun Toting Liberal recommends expanding the investigation until "very famous politicians are behind the bars they deserve," but TPM shoots the story down, saying the case might be "entertaining but not for the reasons the headlines might suggest." As the GOP meltdown continues, WaPo's Kathleen Parker suggests the Republicans will "overlook or

Moms Vs. Motrin: Backlash to the BacklashYesterday

image We reported yesterday on blogging (and tweeting) moms' attacks on a Motrin ad they found offensive. Now, lots of bloggers are delving into the incident's broader implications for social media marketing. "The vocal minority has been given a really tall soapbox to stand on and a megaphone the size of Texas to speak into," writes GamerWok. "It's exciting to see how businesses are now being held ever accountable for their actions." But was this really worth getting mad about? The backlash came quickly: After Jessica Gottlieb got a tweet about the advertisement, she was "furious and I asked the other mommies on Twitter to talk about why they'd never again use Motrin." It was the most Tweeted subject on Twitter by Saturday evening. Skimbaco Lifestyle compiled all the tweets into a

Nate Silver, master statistician behind fivethirtyeight.com, has signed a deal for two books, one about the art of prediction and the other a Freakonomics-style guide to the mechanics of electoral politics, for about $700,000, Media Mob reported last week. FishbowlNY says they heard the deal was made based "solely on two pages of bullet-pointed ideas, and some printouts of blog entries" and has a clip of Arianna Huffington interviewing Silver (Huffington filled in for Rachel Maddow on her show last night). "Two books! WANT. NOW." pleads Wonkette. "Please include sexy nude numbers pix. The
