- UK Broadband speeds code of practice comes into effect 5th DecemberToday

It is not clear how much use a voluntary code of practice on broadband speeds will be, but hopefully if providers who have agreed to it consistently break the rules Ofcom will act with a larger stick to ensure compliance. The Broadband Speeds Code of Practice was first announced on 5th June 2008, and on the six month anniversary of the initial release Ofcom is keen to point out that providers covering 95% of broadband users are signed up. The code is mainly about ensuring consumers are better informed about potential speeds, to avoid people seeing headline figures of 24Mbps and not being aware that with ADSL2+ only around 15% of lines will ever connect at speeds like this.

It's been known for years that the iPhone is extremely popular in Japan. However, one very avid Apple fan, decided to show his love for the iPhone and Apple in a different way. An owner of a Fuji apple orchard printed up custom stickers of iPhones and the Apple logo. He then put the stickers on his Fuji apples while they were still young and on the trees. A month later after the apples had matured, he removed the stickers. As you can see the lack of sun reaching the apple cause them to keep the stickers original design. Previous to writing this comparison, I have only ever used Ubuntu and Fedora. Considering Ubuntu's popularity and reputation for being easy to use, I was expecting openSUSE to be nowhere near as good. From the moment I was greeted with "Welcome" as the LiveCD booted, I knew I was going to be proven wrong. View: Part 1 of "Linux Comparison" - Ubuntu An install for all. The installation was quick and painless. The installer correctly detected the existing Linux partitions, and also proposed that I did not format my home partition (for the uninitiated, this is more or less the "My Documents" of Linux).

For now, a marriage between Twitter and Facebook is not meant to be, but the courtship between the two Web 2.0 companies could be rekindled in the future. That was one message from Evan Williams, the chief executive and co-founder of Twitter, in a talk at the Churchill Club in San Francisco Tuesday night. Serious talks between the Facebook social network and the Twitter microblogging service started soon after Mr. Williams took over as chief executive on Oct. 16. Yahoo unveiled their Year in the Review this week with the most searched terms, its always good to see what sort of things people have been looking for the most. Top of the list is Britney Spears which is no surprise seeing as everyone can't get enough reading about her up and down social or personal life, second is WWE which may surprise some people but they were second last year and have this year had a big following due to celebrity's appearing on their shows. Other names on the list include President Elect Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus and Runescape.
