- Unboxing the Canon 5D Mark IIDecember 3
-
Our long wait is over. We woke up this morning to a call from my now favorite person in the whole wide world. 'Hi, Lisa! Your Canon 5D Mark II is now available for pick-up. It just got here this morning.' I pledged eternal love, undying devotion, and my firstborn child to the caller, and that's how Jeff knew it was that call.

Still can't give a decent review being that we've only shot 40+ images with it, but so far, everything is perfection. The only problem is there are no extra batteries available anywhere here, and nobody can even give a price for it yet. - Dear ReadersNovember 30

Jeff and I have some big news to share with you guys. Beyond Megapixels is changing hands. We will no longer be its publishers from this point onwards. We will stay on as weekly contributing writers till the end of February though, and if schedule permits, we would love to stay on.
We've devoted a good portion of the past year to this blog and we love it more than we can put into words, but we find that we're going to have less and less time to devote to BMP. We've poured our hearts out into this blog though, and hope that we've made a difference somehow.
Vernon is taking over now and we're confident he will take good care of BMP and you guys. He's a great guy, and I hope you will all join us in welcoming him to the blog. We will also be joined by other contributing writers.
It's been such an incredible ride for me and Jeff. We're so grateful for the experience, for all the brilliant photographers and bloggers around the world who've helped us along the way. We've made some amazing friends through this blog, and that alone was worth everything and more. We're thankful to you, our readers, who've helped keep this site beginner-friendly.
When Jeff and I started this, we fully intended to foster a community that encourages beginners. There are a few photographers these days who seem to forget that we all started there. The word amateur is derived from the Latin word amare, meaning "to love." We should be all be so lucky as to always ha - Nikon D3x RumorsNovember 27

December 1 UPDATE: Nikon D3x is officially announced. Found out about it on Photography Bay. See the D3x micro site. Price is $8,000. This definitely takes the WTF of the week.
UPDATE: Official Nikon D3x specs are out! See Nikon Rumors. We're very surprised by the 6400 maximum ISO, I have to say.
Sometime yesterday, the people over at Nikonrumors.com found the photo below over at the Nikon USA website.

It's that time of the year again. I don't know if I'm going to enjoy Christmas shopping as much this year what with the state of my wallet Oh, who am I kidding. I live for this shit.
Below are relatively cheap gift ideas for your photography-inclined loved ones.
Nikon Lens Pen Pro Kit
$19.21
We love our Nikon Lens Pen, that much we've made clear a long time ago. I don't know how comfortable you'd be handing a single pen as a present though so try this kit. It says, "I thought about this long and hard and think you deserve the entire kit (even though you don't really need the rest of it)." The brush has been specifically designed for lens use which makes sure that your glass will not be scratched. The felt tip on the other end of the pen is very e - Join the Fall Photography Contest at Photography BayNovember 19

Remember our post on 5 Ways to Shoot Autumn Leaves? If you went out there and took some fall pictures, you might want to join the ongoing photo contest over at Photography Bay.
Photography Bay and Seagate invite you to bring your best fall photo for a chance to win 1 of 3 Seagate FreeAgent Go drives - a 500GB, 320GB and 250GB model for first, second and third place, respectively.
If you don't have a backup drive yet, dude, you need one. If you do, well, one more shouldn't hurt. To learn more about file management and safety of your digital images, we've written two articles on it: Back Up Your Files Regularly, and Back Up Your Work on the Road. There's also an excellent series over at Epic Edits Weblog on backing up -
